Take a walk on the dark side as we explore Tasmania’s fascinating colonial history. This is no ordinary walking tour. You’ll be transported back in time to the days of early settlement – where whalers drank, convicts fought and shady characters found refuge in the pubs along the winding streets of Battery Point.

Listen to the tales of hardship and woe as you wander through the historic grand sandstone warehouses of Salamanca Place. Marvel at the beautiful colonial architecture of the 1800’s in the quaint village of Battery Point, overlooking the River Derwent. On this walk we explore the remains of early settlement and the role of convict men and women during this time.

We move to the present day and learn about Hobart’s latest developments, attractions and the best hospitality on offer. This walk is not physically demanding and can be attended by all ages. Our Salamanca Walk Experience was nominated for the Eatt Magazine Podcast travel award for one of the Top 10 walking tours in Australia in 2017. Don’t miss out on this fun way to discover Hobart’s convict history.
