Convict Women & Old Hobart Town

We start by coach touring around the historic Sullivans Cove area of Hobart. From here, guests will explore the city's convict and early settlement history, travelling through Battery Point, Salamanca Place and South Hobart. A photo stop is included at Cascade Gardens before continuing on to the Cascades Female Factory.

From 1828 1856 approximately 7000 convict women spent time at the Cascades Female Factory, each with their own story to tell. Learn about convict life and largely untold story of convict women and the role they have played in developing modern Australia. The Cascades Female Factory is one of 11 convict sites that together from the Australian Convict Sites World Heritage Property. Here we join the guided Convict Women's Tour for an insight into the lives of the female convicts once imprisoned there.
